This entry is part 10 of 10 in the series Are You Prepared For a Natural Disaster?

Bug Out Bag Series CoverWelcome if you are just stopping by! I appreciate you the reader! I made you a checklist for a Survival (Bug Out) Bag. September is Preparedness Month and my goal is to help you through the process of building a 72 hour survival bag for your family to be prepared for a natural disaster.

First off we have “Are You Ready For A Natural Disaster”. This helps the process of getting your mind wrapped around the idea that natural disasters do happen. Normally we always think they happen to other people and not ourselves. So we are not prepared. I also gave some examples of putting you in places of “Scenarios”. This is such an important topic that the government says to be prepared and gives plenty of websites to get families prepared.

You can get overwhelmed when you start the process! There are so many things to look for and to figure out. My approach helps you look at different areas that you may forget. That is why I have explanations on so many topics.

Most families don’t realize the importance of getting their documents in order. “Paper In Way You Never Thought” tells you that and what is one big things that most people forget about when they are thinking about disaster planning.

Disclaimer:  Here is a list to start with.  Throughout the series, I recommended for my readers to discuss with their family those items that would be unique to their family’s needs.  This post is to help get you on the right page by teaching you what subjects are essential and I tried to give you options that were budget friendly.  Some of us have bigger budgets than other and not a lot of time.  So some of these ideas are for those.  Other ideas are more time intensive but they will save a lot of money.  The biggest thing to take away from this post is to do something for your family now!  Don’t wait.  Start today.  Yes, this is a lot but if you work on it gradually it will gradually get done.  Bookmark this and come back to finish your list. I really want you to be prepared.  With storms seeming to become bigger and bigger and more frequent there is no time to waste.  The time preparation for your family is now.

One thing, I left out prior is where to get your bag. I personally got extra suitcases at a thrift stores. I also use an 18 quart tote. You can choose what you want.
