When God Calls You Out Of Your Comfort Zone

When God Calls You Out Of Your Comfort Zone

Three years ago, God started calling us to a different life.   For three years we have been following him and getting closer to his plans.  God made it clear that things were going to change dramatically for us.  We just didn’t know what that meant. 1. Sold our House we were living in. Our first big step of obedience was selling a house that we just built eight months prior to God showing us his will.  This was hard in a way and easy in a way.  It was hard to sell something we had custom built.  It was hard to go through the emotions, but in the end it is just a house.  This was the easiest of all the obedient steps we have taken this far. 2. Move To Hometown. We had a unique issue.  When God called us to move out of our comfort zone, we had three houses....

Why Most Families Just Run On Fumes

Why Most Families Just Run On Fumes

Every single family has at least moments that they are just barely getting by in life.  They aren’t enjoying life because they have over scheduled themselves.  Some families live in this chaos all the time.  It doesn’t have to be this way if you are one of those families who cannot recover from chaos.   We personally have a big move coming up and we have been living in this mess for a little while.  To be honest, this past year I have been living in this method more than I ever have before.  I launched two businesses and also tried to downsize for our upcoming move. Sometimes you just have to realize you can’t to it all and then you need to set your priorities.   1. Set Your Priorities   Is your priority to spend quality time with...

Project Minimalist

Project Minimalist

The weeks have been slipping through my fingers.  We were working hard on getting our house up on the market.  Now it has been on the market for a week.  And we are having lots of activity.  Praise God!   First off, it is amazing how much people accumulate.   I know it is a blessing to have the only grandchildren on both sides of the family, but man did we have lots of stuff.  Lots and lots of stuff.  I think I am about up to making about $2,000 on selling stuff!   Now that my house is cleaned out, I have found it to be relaxing.  I don’t want decorations.  I want the simple life.  I don’t want extras  laying around.  I am done with clutter.   Sometimes a person doesn’t even realize all they have until they are trying to get ready...

Happy Birthday Called To Be A Mom

Happy Birthday Called To Be A Mom

Wowsers.  Where did the year go? I remember the first six months working more than 40 hours a week on this blog a lot.  Late nights and early mornings were the norm for me.  Lately I have blogged less due to our current situations.  The hubby got a new job and there are a lot more changes that are coming.  I was hoping to tell them to you on the one year anniversary, but the rest of the details are not quite ready.   So I guess you will have to wait.   Some stats: Currently there are 260 facebook likes.  There are 386 Pinterest followers.  There are 256 followers on Twitter.  I am so honored to have all of you.   My passions have been to live frugally on what you have, be content with the life you are given and to live as natural as possible for...

2 Essentials That Pilger, NE Tornado Victims Need

2 Essentials That Pilger, NE Tornado Victims Need

I’ve been pretty busy lately helping out with the Pilger Disaster. On the other hand, I have seen and heard of a lot of miracles that are happening. Not too often is a town wiped off from a tornado. This tornado was extremely destructive. There are other towns that were affected. There were also farms that were affected in really bad ways. The clean up is a lot of work. They have had over 2000 volunteers in a day helping out. It has been amazing to watch others who have the same heart as I do. There is so much work to be done and so much still needs to be done. Salvage Gold My husband and I were over cleaning up things around the school on Sunday. Right across the street , is  was the church.  The only thing left is where the church bell stands.   That day...

10 Overseas Travel Tips For Toddlers

10 Overseas Travel Tips For Toddlers

This can be exhausting and frustrating if you don’t have it planned correctly.  Since I have lived this out, I thought I could share a few tips.   First off, the airport can be very overwhelming.  That can be true for an adult going overseas with all the extra security checks and dealing with passports.  This is daunting to a child who is unable to understand what it going on.   1. Talk About The Trip Before You Go. We have a two-year-old and four-year-old.  We were able to talk about going to Latin America before we went.  No matter what trip you are going on, there is plenty you can do beforehand.   We showed pictures as we searched the web.  We talked about it over a month before we actually went on the trip.  This made it a lot more easier on...
